After completing the hull modifications we took on the topside and modified the "sloop rig" into a "Trawler" rig. She now sports two shortened masts with a roller furler aft of the main mast for a flat steadying sail and the mizzen is now just a stub for antennas, lights, flag, etc. She still has the same profile (has that nautical look to her w/ the high bow, etc) and the main sail could be used to help her along but there is no way you could sail her as is. However, we have left all the hardware in place for a new owner that may want to rerig her as designed. We "sailed" DriftWood in the Caribbean for 11 years and if you check out the hours on the Yanmar (which we installed in 1998) you'll see how much we actually sailed. In all that time we traveled approx. 30K miles, averaged right at 6 for the speed and the engine hours...

In other words, to enjoy this boat and go wherever you want in the Americas you don't need the sail rig. You will see from the following pages that this vessel is virtually "one of a kind". She has many upgrades and modifications and comes with spares for almost everything. You'll also see from the pictures that she has been meticulously maintained and there are complete records for all maintenance done on the engine and generator. Naturally, there are a few "things" that should be done as she has not been used much in the past couple of years. But hey, it's a boat and there's always stuff to do. However, she is ready to go as she sits. Just load your personal items and a few groceries, splash her and head out! Currently (Jan. 2012) she is out of the water and ready for your inspection.
